Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III remains in the NFL concussion protocol and his status for playing in Sunday's season finale is uncertain.
Coach Hue Jackson told reporters Monday that Griffin was in the concussion protocol as the Browns prepare for Sunday's road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Griffin was sacked seven times and suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of the Saturday's 20-17 win over the San Diego Chargers, the Browns' first victory of the season.
RG3 was taken out of the huddle and to the sideline with 10:30 left and was diagnosed with a concussion after he was hit high by Chargers linebacker Korey Toomer.
Griffin completed 17 of 25 passes for 164 yards before leaving the game. Backup Cody Kessler replaced Griffin for the remainder of the game, completing 2 of 3 for 11 yards.
Jackson said Monday he was not ready to name a starter, allowing time to see how Griffin progressed this week.
Griffin, 26, has completed 58 of 107 passes for 654 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in four games this season. He missed 11 games recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in the season opener on Sept. 11.
Griffin is due $6 million, with a $1.5 million roster bonus, next season in the last year of his two-year deal with the Browns.
