Ryan Lochte to seek treatment for ‘serious’ alcohol addiction

Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte finally admitted on Friday that he has a “serious” addiction to alcohol — and will be seeking treatment.

The acknowledgment comes just one day after Lochte got the cops called on him in Newport Beach, California, for allegedly attempting to kick down his hotel room door in a drunken stupor.

“Ryan has been battling from alcohol addiction for many years and unfortunately it has become a destructive pattern for him,” Lochte’s lawyer, Jeff Ostrow, told TMZ.

“He has acknowledged that he needs professional assistance to overcome his problem and will be getting help immediately.”

Lochte, 34, has seen his fair share of controversy in the past on account of his drinking.

The four-time Olympian admitted to being “hammered” during the infamous Rio robbery incident in 2016, which he later confessed to lying about. The incident led to his arrest and earned him a 10-month suspension.

In August, Lochte was spotted partying it up and downing drinks in Las Vegas at the Hakkasan Nightclub — to the tune of $11,500.

Sources told The Post that he and 10 others purchased bottles of Grey Goose vodka, Avion tequila and Veuve Clicquot Champagne over the span of three-and-a-half hours.

Lochte just welcomed the birth of his son last year with wife Kayla Rae Reid and is hoping to get back to swimming one day, his lawyer said.

“Ryan knows that conquering this disease now is a must for him to avoid making future poor decisions, to be the best husband and father he can be, and if he wants to achieve his goal to return to dominance in the pool in his fifth Olympics in Tokyo in 2020,” Ostrow said.
