Abbas, Erdogan discuss Israel’s recent Gaza aggression

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today discussed the “latest Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip” with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA.

In a phone call, Erdogan condemned – in the strongest possible terms – the recent Israeli aggression, the news site reported.

He also voiced Turkey’s readiness to support the people of Gaza and treat injured Palestinians in Turkish hospitals.

Abbas, for his part, thanked Erdogan for what he described as “Turkey’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and cause”.

On Monday evening, Israeli artillery pounded the Gaza Strip, killing at least seven Palestinians and injuring 26 others.
